Fasone Construction successfully restored a 100-year-old structure, including the removal of an oil tank
inside the building. The restoration involved designing and building a structural underpinning system,
demolishing, shoring, and rebuilding concrete retaining walls with a footing drain. Additionally, the project
included replacing roof and wall panels, abating, and repainting the building's exterior after retrofitting,
and regrading the surrounding site to protect against marine conditions and erosion.
Overcoming logistical challenges, site conditions, and the remote location, Fasone Construction sourced
materials from local suppliers and transported them onto the beach using specialized equipment. All
concrete work was mixed and poured on-site, with work schedules coordinated around tide schedules to
ensure worker safety and minimize disruption to the nearby elephant seals. The project was completed
and handed over to the customer one month ahead of schedule.
