The Walker Cabin Historic Site Project stands out for its comprehensive restoration, reconstruction, and preservation of five unique historic structures. These include a cabin, barn, storage shed, pump house, and cold cellar. The project also included exterior site improvements such as electrical upgrades and the creation of a new offsite parking lot. This gravel lot featured two concrete parking stalls, a vault toilet, and solar-powered lighting.
Fasone self-performed the reconstruction of the 5 historic structures. Fasone modified the interior walls to incorporate two display windows built into the existing wall to showcase old newspapers from the early 1900s. The storage shed was structurally shored up as the structure was falling, and the drawings did not correct the issues. The parking lot was modified to fit the actual site conditions; it was widened, and parking stalls were adjusted to fit the available space. The ADA trail was altered to contour without exceeding the max 5% and established a viewing area at the trail's end. Fasone used all their resources to accommodate BLM’s request best.
The windows were reconstructed and repaired to preserve their historic and structural integrity. The windows held historical importance as established by the Historic Site Review. The windows that were classified as historic and were in fair to good condition were preserved and restored according to specifications. The historic windows that were in disrepair, were replicated using new materials that closely resembled the existing windows of the same type, in accordance with the specifications.
